SUMMER SMOOTHIE //

I thought I'd make the most of the last few days of Summer with this simple berry smoothie. Not only is it a healthier alternative to sugar-laden soft drinks and syrup-based fruit juices, but it's also a great way to use up bananas that are heading towards the 'over-ripe' stage. (Mushy, over-ripe bananas are the worst!)

These measurements are just approximations - feel free to modify as you wish.

What you will need:
1 large banana, chopped (I used 2 small ones, though it really depends on how much you want to make)
1 cup of frozen mixed berries
1 cup soy milk (or any other kind of milk - almond milk works quite well, too, and rice milk is a good option, although it's a bit sweeter)
A handful of almonds or other unsalted nuts (optional)
A drizzle of honey (optional)
A tablespoon of chia seeds (optional)

Throw it into a blender and blend until smooth, then top with more berries and enjoy!

This recipe was inspired by Lorna Jane and Margaret Zhang.

What is your favourite smoothie combo? :)
